Rediscovering the Flame of Petroleum - Moreni City Hall aims to promote the natural resources and folk elements and folk art in the area in order to turn it into an attractive tourist destination and to increase its visibility through specific promotional means

Through the "Rediscover the Flame of Petroleum" project, co-financed by the Regional Operational Program 2007-2013, Priority Axis 5 - "Sustainable Development and Promotion of Tourism", Key Area of Intervention 5.3 - "Promoting tourist potential and creating the necessary infrastructure for growth The attractiveness of Romania as a tourist destination ", Moreni City Hall has proposed to promote the natural resources and folk elements and folk art in the area in order to turn it into an attractive tourist destination and to increase its visibility by means of promotion specific.
Through this project we are pursuing the development of the area from the tourist point of view and increasing the visibility of the attractions for tourists through specific marketing actions.

 

 

Moreni municipality, located in the administrative territory of Dâmboviţa County, dates from the end of the 16th century and is the oldest oil center in the country. In this area was built in 1691 the third petroleum platform in the world and the first in Romania, where oil was extracted. The settlement was named symbolically "Black Gold" of Romania and was one of the most exploited oil fields in the country. Over the years, oil fields have diminished, but there are still deposits that are being exploited at this time.

 

Moreni is located at the central eastern limit of the county, it has an area of ​​3.514 ha, of which 610 ha is in town and is near the county of Prahova. It is the road junction of DJ720 and DJ 710A, linking two main traffic streams, namely DN72A, Ploiesti-Targoviste and DN1 Bucharest-Brasov, being the transit short for the sub-Carpathian area along the 45th parallel.
 
In the area of ​​Moreni, the tourist offer generated by the existing natural and anthropic objectives provides tourists with many forms of tourism that can be practiced:

 

Tourism in nature - walks through the wooded forests and in the abundant area of ​​the Cricovul Dulce River;
Cultural and historical tourism - visiting the historical ruins of the Nemes' Cazemata, the Legionaries Cross and the ruins of some tunnels connected to the city of Ploieşti, the oil wells and the oil fields;
Balneo-climatic tourism - tourists who come for curative and treatment at the Department of Recovery, Physical Medicine and Balneology within the Municipal Hospital;
